Join the list of celebrities and accomplished trekkers who have experienced this amazing trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. At 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes and the world largest free standing mountain.
This is an expedition to the summit of Kilimanjaro, Kibo, from the Kenyan side of the mountain, the Rongai route. This is a much drier side with far less undulations than other routes but still has a wilderness appeal with camping. This route also passes directly under Mawenzi, the second highest volcanic cone of Kilimanjaro, camping at Mawenzi tarn for two nights.
The Rongai route starts just south of the Kenya-Tanzania border and has been mostly unused for many years. The route begins in attractive farmland and delightful forest, with the possibility of wildlife viewing and passing through several different climate zones, adding considerably to the interest of the trek.
The seven day itinerary gives excellent acclimatisation and also gives you an unusual view of the montane forest on Kilimanjaro. On the final night before the summit climb you shall need to rise at around midnight to commence the final trek in the moonlight up the scree slopes to Gillman’s point. Your aim is to reach this point by dawn and continue around the rim to the highest point, Uhuru Peak.
Temperatures drop at night, allowing you to enjoy the crisp cool air under the star-studded African skies. During the days you'll rise higher; often looking down on a sea of clouds. An unforgettable experience of a lifetime.
Our experienced guides and support team will be able to give you help and advice on fitness and training requirements and answer any queries you may have.
This expedition starts and ends in Gibraltar and includes all flights, transfers, accommodation and food.
